| Mara de Guzman, the eldest daughter of Epifanio and Nora de Guzman celebrated her 18th birthday at the Garden Ballroom of Edsa Shangri-la Hotel. The ballroom was converted into a garden befitting the Midsummer Night’s Dream theme. The beat of a distant drum invited the guests to a celebration – a feast on a midsummer’s night, the brightest night of the year – signaled the start of the programme. Complete with live trees, fresh flowers and butterflies, the debutante entered the ballroom as escorted by Ernan Leotangco. Mara was simply radiant in her gossamer gown in fuchsia pink encrusted with crystals and beads, featuring a garden and butterfly motif. Mara, with her family and friends, has carefully planned a wonderful night for all of her guests. From the unique and whimsical invitation to the floral decorations by Tropical Blooms, from the music to the cake—everything, as in everything had the debutante’s touch on them.
An audiovisual production by Jojo Tatlonghari provided an intimate background on the celebrant. Complete with family pictures, video clips and greetings from family and friends, the presentation was well received.
The debutante was then escorted to a park bench decorated with flowers and butterflies as 18 close friends and relatives of the debutante said their lovely speeches and interesting tidbits about the celebrant.
Together with 9 of her closest friends, Mara surprised everyone with a different kind of Cotillion de Honor. Still a showcase of the young girl being introduced to society, Mara reentered the ballroom once again but this time, in aqua blue gown. Likewise, 18 close friends and relatives led by the dad, Mr. Epifanio De Guzman, danced with Mara for the 18 roses.
In keeping with the theme, girls took home special bracelets with small butterflies.
To highlight the night, the cake was rolled in as everyone sang “Happy Birthday.” The father of the debutante made a short yet sentimental speech. Afterwhich, Mara thanked all the guests and everyone who has helped in making her fantasy a reality. “Truly,” she said, “dreams do come true.” And that momentous night in June proved how many people care and love her. |

Here's what Mara De Guzman had to say about Events! Events!
Ernest was recommended to me by one of his former clients who also had him as her debut coordinator. Since I really needed someone to help me get through with having a party which would include more than 100 guests, my mom and I decided to actually meet up with him and see what he had in mind for a debutante like me.
That day was actually one of the coolest and most exciting ones that I have had. With just a short introduction of myself and what I would like my party to be, he suggested things that I actually had in mind and he made it sound more amazing and more exciting. It was like he read my mind! We exchanged ideas, and, well of course, not all my ideas were that good so he suggested some "improvements" and I liked them.
We were only given a few months to really prepare for the party and get it moving. Yet, Ernest did a very great job! He did all the appointments and meetings with the photographer, the florists, the make-up artist, the band that would play during my debut, and he made sure to really follow up on us about the souvenirs and the invitations and even the gowns that I would use. Would you believe he actually went to our last cotillion rehearsal just to watch and well, make sure that we would not be dancing beyond the stage space allotted for us? Yes, he did that. He pored over the tiniest of details to make sure his client would have the best party and the most memorable night ever. Don't get me wrong, Ernest is not just Mr. Serious Guy who goes over details with a straight face. On the contrary, he is friendly, accommodating, funny and a great conversationalist. There are no dull and boring moments with him.
With all things said, meeting him and having him coordinated my party was indeed a pleasure. Thank you Ernest, for the absolutely most wonderful night I have ever had! It was indeed a blast!
